Ethylhexyl Triazone — CAS 88122-99-0 | UV Filter Supplier

CAS 88122-99-0

UV-B filter with very strong absorption capacity; contributes meaningfully to SPF even at low use levels.

Overview

Ethylhexyl Triazone

Ethylhexyl Triazone (also known as Octyl Triazone) is a high-photostability triazine UV filter in Sigmak’s UV portfolio (product code SIG-UV-002).

A symmetric triazine core carrying three aminobenzoate ester arms gives a very high molar extinction coefficient in the UV-B range, combined with high photostability under UV exposure.

Cosmetic / Formulation Applications

  • UV filter for sunscreen formulations
  • High-SPF sun care products
  • Cosmetic products requiring strong UV-B absorption
  • Low-dose systems where efficient SPF contribution is needed

Typical formulation considerations

  • Very high molar extinction coefficient in the UV-B range allows a meaningful SPF contribution at low use levels compared with many single-function UV-B filters.
  • Oil-soluble powder; typically melted or dispersed into the oil phase during manufacture.
  • High photostability is a common reason formulators pair it with less photostable UV-A filters in multi-filter systems.
